On November 4th Kinect was released. The new add-on brought the promise of hands-free controls to the Xbox 360 console. On that first day, I spent close to 3 hours enjoying Kinect Sports and Kinect Adventures. The next morning I wanted to enjoy more Kinect fun, but my body refused to cooperate. The reality was that I was extremely sore from my previous day of gaming. It turns out that Kinect provides quite the workout. This got me thinking that maybe Kinect could help me shed a few of my extra pounds and improve my overall physical health. It is now to put my hypothesis to the test. Today begins my fist day in my new “52 Weeks of Kinect Gaming Challenge”.
My challenge will have me play a minimum of 1 hour of Kinect gaming each and every single day for the next year. Since all Kinect games do not require a high level of physical activity, I have chosen to use EA Active 2.0 as my main gaming title. This will be supplemented by various other Kinect titles each week.
Just as I did during my “52 Weeks of Canadian Gaming Challenge”, I will be providing a short review on all games that I have played. Since this challenge is based on losing weight, each game review will be based not only on how much fun it is to play, but how much it makes you sweat as well.
So this is day 1 of my new challenge. My current weight is 278lbs.
