Crackdown 2 was by far the title I most wanted to play at PAX East and I made good on my desires by playing it on several occasions. Crackdown 2 took half of Microsoft’s booth with 16 consoles setup to play two game modes; Rocket Tag and Team Deathmatch. The controls for the game are virtually identical to those of Crackdown with a few cool new moves such as the ability to glide a bit. Team Deathmatch was fun, but the map selected was designed for 16 players with only 8 present causing a lot of searching for an opponent to take down. Also without the ability to chat with teammates (for the demo, but the real game will allow chatting), it was impossible to create a co-ordinated attack an effective attack. “E” let it be known via his Twitter account that the release date for Crackdown 2 has been established as July 6. Orb hunters everywhere rejoiced. Well not everywhere as this release date is for North America only. The rest of the world will need to wait a tiny bit more. The game will be released in Asia, Australia and New Zealand on July 8 and Europe on July 9. Read on for more information.
