Xbox 360 or industry related news of special interest to Canadians.

Infinity Ward, best known for the Modern Warfare series is hard at work on another game, but that game is not Modern Warfare 3. It appears the development company is working on a new yet to be announced title.

So who is working on Modern Warfare 3 you ask? Well I am glad you asked. Rumours point to a Canadian developer. Now Activision will not allow just any developer to work on their most flagship title, so we can assume this development studio will be an Activision owned development studio. This leads us to one clear cut conclusion; Radical Entertainment. Read on for more information.

Razer, maker of high end computer gaming accessories is getting into the console craze. The company has just released details of an Xbox 360 controller and headset. The Razer Onza (wired controller) will feature analog sticks with adjustable tension and two programmable multi-function buttons (located under the left and right bumper and above the left and right triggers) that can replace any button (including the super annoying analog stick button) or a rapid fire button. The Razer Chimaera (headset) will feature a virtual 5.1 surround sound. Expect the Onza and Chimaera to be available sometime in 2010 for a price of $49.99 and $129.99 US respectively. Alan Wake, the story of an author trapped in his own nightmarish story, has been in development for a long…long time now. The game was first shown at E3 in 2005. The supposed launch title has seen numerous delays, but now the game is just around the corner. With such a long development time, talking about a sequel before the game has been released is madness. Or is it? Alan Wake is presented in an episodic style similar to the hit TV show “Lost”. As such the game lends well for extra episodes. Microsoft agrees and has confirmed that Remedy (really cool devs) will be producing extra episodes to be available soon after the game launches for download. This is great news as most adventure games do not offer much in replay value. Adding extra content will extend the life of the title and prevent quick traded-in once a single playthrough has been completed. Alan Wake will be released exclusively on the Xbox 360 platform on April 12. Read on for more information.

The Microsoft CES Keynote speech was a little short of gaming new, but one the items mentioned was the new Game Room. The Game Room is a virtual arcade in which your Xbox Live Avatar can enter and play old school arcade games. Players can invite other players to their Game Room and challenge them to a friendly old fashioned highscore competition. New titles will be released for the Game Room each week with the goal of over 1000 games released over the next 3 years. Games purchased for the Game Room will be available across all platforms (Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live). Games will vary in price from 240-400MS points to purchase, but more interesting is the 40MS points option to "rent" a game. Expect the Game Room this Spring. Read on for more information.

“Return to Ostagar”, the first DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, was announced last November shortly after the game was released. In Return to Ostagar, gamers would return to the scene of the great battle to retrieve the dead king’s enchanted armour. This will lead to plenty of side quests and fighting.

The DLC was planned for a holiday ’09 released, but got delayed till January 5th. Now it appears the DLC has once again been delayed. This time the delay was only supposed to last a single day and players could “Return to Ostagar” today. Today is now here and the DLC is still nowhere to be found leading many to speculate the DLC has been canned in favour of the newly announced “Awakening” expansion pack. Read on for more information.

BioWare and EA announced “Awakening”, the first expansion pack for Dragon Age: Origins. Awakening takes place in the land of Amaranthine and has the player discovering the true agenda of the Darkspawn. On top of the new storyline, the game will increase the level cap, introduce new weapons, magic, specializations, items and much more. The game will allow current players to import existing game characters or create a new one. Since the game will introduce plenty of new skills, magic, specializations and much more, BioWare also introduced the ability to edit and re-spec existing characters. Awakening will also feature 5 new recruitable party members.

BioWare indicated the expansion pack should add 15 or more hours of gameplay to Dragon Age: Origins. Expect the expansion pack to arrive on store shelves near you on March 16 for the lofty price of $39.99 US. Read on for more information.

2009 was a good year for Canadian developed games, but 2010 promises to be even better. With over a dozen AAA titles scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 platform alone, this could be a banner year for Canadian developers. The fun starts off quickly with EA Montréal’s Army of Two: The 40th Day followed by Mass Effect 2 from BioWare. Then before Sheppard can save the galaxy once again, Sam Fisher will once again arrive to us from EA Montréal. This is just the tip of the iceberg for Canadian developed titles. Modern Warfare 2 is an unstoppable machine that continues to headshot anything that comes close to it. Well on the Xbox 360 this is true for the PS3 version has been constantly living in the shadow of other games. Previously it was Ezio who neck stabbed the title into submission, but this week it was taken down by an aging Italian plumber. Yes the remake of a game most likely played by your parents continues to shine for the Wii and is the second most rented title this past week.

With the release of Darksiders and Bayonetta, I expect this list to change dramatically by next week.
